Analytics Engineer

Analytics Engineering · Full-time · Remote

The role

We are looking for an analytics engineer to build and maintain the data models, reporting systems, and analytical foundations that our clients rely on to understand how their businesses operate.

You will work directly with business stakeholders and internal teams to translate operational questions into reliable, well-structured data products. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering and business intelligence. You will own the layer between raw data and the dashboards, reports, and systems that people actually use to make decisions.

What you'll work on

  • Design, build, and maintain data models using dbt (or similar transformation frameworks)
  • Build reporting and dashboard systems in tools like Metabase, Looker, or Power BI
  • Write well-tested, documented SQL that other engineers and analysts can trust
  • Work with clients to understand their business processes and translate them into data structures
  • Define and maintain metrics, dimensions, and business logic in a central semantic layer
  • Collaborate with data engineers on pipeline design, data quality, and source system integration
  • Help clients move from spreadsheets and ad-hoc queries to structured, repeatable analytics

What we're looking for

  • Strong SQL skills: you can write, optimise, and debug complex queries confidently
  • Experience with analytics engineering tools such as dbt, LookML, or similar
  • Familiarity with data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, or Redshift)
  • Ability to understand business processes and translate them into clean data models
  • Clear communication: you can explain technical work to non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfort working directly with clients, not just internal teams

Nice to have

  • Experience with Python for data transformation or automation
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD for analytics workflows
  • Exposure to data engineering concepts (ELT pipelines, orchestration tools like Airflow or Dagster)
  • Experience working in a consultancy or agency environment

What you'll work with

  • dbt for data transformation and modelling
  • SQL-based data warehouses (BigQuery, PostgreSQL, Snowflake)
  • BI and reporting tools (Metabase, Looker, Power BI)
  • Git and GitHub for version control
  • Python where needed for scripting and automation
